Park City push competition -

Postby SweetHomeAlabama » Fri Jun 20, 2008 3:02 pm

Does anyone know if there will be a Push Competition later this summer in Park City, similar to the one that was held there last Labor Day weekend?

They are thinking about it, there are alot of changes going on at the UOP so things are getting figured out. But keep a look out.

Throw in my 2 cents, since I wasnt able to attend the last one.
I'd definitely like to get out there this year.

Thanks for keeping us apprised, Mark! We are very appreciative of your efforts to keep the skeleton community in the loop.

I know Don Croce went the extra mile last year to put it together, so when he departed, I figured future Push and Load events were in jeopardy. But we'll see what happens. While I won't attend, I know that a few folks on this board are interested, as long as they can get enough advance notice (to book a flight/hotel, and take a day off work if applicable).

Hey, George , happy 4th of July.
I hope Utah does a push competition this year.
I am planning on spending 6 to 8 weeks in LP this coming season, been saving up money and trying to get things prepared so i can go.
That track in LP beat the heck out of me last Feb. and i need to prove i can beat it, lol.

Hey Brian H. a former skeleton classmate of mine nice to see you on the board, i hope you have been doing well.

Hey Teej.
I love both PC and LP but it is cheaper for me to travel to LP.
I watched the WC races online also and yes it did seem everyone had trouble and yes i also got into the wall coming out of turn 3 just like everyone else did, and the chicane also gave me problems.
The few times i made it through the chicane with no problems was awesome , when you make it through clean it is the funnest part of the track but you dont it sucks.
Other than turn 3 which gives everyone problems i did good on the top part of the track , it was when i would have problems in the chicane that would totally mess me up going into the heart and the bottom part of the track.
I cant wait for the new season to start.

Oh I hear ya.

I don't know as cost really matters much to me at least at this point. Any difference I'd find in tickets would be eaten up by the fuel of driving out to LP from the airport.

I really want to get back to PC this season to at least finish up and preferably another trip as well.

Seen the video from Whistler yet? I don't have the experience to tell if that wall smack near the end is something that's going to be common or if it was a mistake that can be worked around. Looks like it'd be painful on a skelly though. hehehehe.

You'd have to ask Mongoose. He posted it up on a limited download site.

I've got some spare space / bandwidth so I figure I'd keep the vid up for us all for a while.

Thanks for the welcome Harold. I took off last season to get my business off the ground. I'm dying to get back on the ice and COMPETE as soon as I can. Hope all is well with you, and I hope I get to see you this upcomming season. IF PC HAS A PUSH-TRACK EVENT.....I'LL BE THERE!

Actually...Harold or whoever...where are people usually flying into when you go to LP? Just curious what good options there are.

You flying into NYC or BVT?

I'm over 99% sure I'm going to get back to PC this year at the very least. I don't know if it'll be one trip or multiple trips yet, or if I'll try to get somewhere else too or not....

The video of the vancouver track is of a women's bobsled run in March. Only a few copies were made and given to canadian and US coaches. At the FIBT conference in Italy in June the Canadians gave a few disks with the video away. I am not sure how Mongoose received his copy but I my disk because "I know some people who know some people." I'd suggest you take advantage of Mongoose's posting of the download site, as it was a very kind gesture due to the limited access to the track prior to these upcoming Olympics.

Mongoose's link expired very quickly - the video is up on my webspace now with the link in the other thread.

I wonder how long it'll take FIBT to put up their own video like they have for all the other tracks...

I doubt they will put it up until after the olympics. That video was not really supposed to be put up on the internet in the first place. It was given out to people preparing for the olympics. It was an advantage the United states and canada had over many other nations, that is the only video is the only one of that track. After hundred pass it on emails, it has been seen by every slider and then some... they may just put it up on FIBT.

Rule of thumb: don't share your lines, don't share your videos-unless they aren't any good.... :)

TeeJ.
I think it would be cheaper flying into BVT but i am not sure , i drove to N.Y. last year.
I drove 24 hours with no sleep from Fl. until i got into N.Y. and then pulled over and slept 3 hours before driving on to LP.
Next year i am planing on TRYING to stay atleast 6 weeks in LP, i have been trying to get things set up.

Hey Holly Ball what happened to your myspace???? didnt even tell me bye, lol.
I hope you are doing good.

Nah, I'm just giving you a hard time ;). BUT, if you are fortunate enough to come across such a situational video, like the vancouver one, try to share it only with those close to you... You wouldn't want to give your opponents your secret weapon...

24 hour drive and 3 hour rest? No wonder you got sick and beat up on the track. :D

I've done 8, 10...even 12 hour drives. Don't think I wanna push for a 24 hour trip. Frankly I'm not even going to be interested in hitting LP unless I can finish PC first. I know in my case it was little more than bad luck last season though. Doesn't mean I'm not irritated, however.

Any idea when you're gonna be up in LP? I might be up in that part of the country (over near BVT) sometime over the winter even if it's not sliding related. VERY up in the air yet though.
