NewSliders.com update, video, forum

I updated the site last week, particularly the links to sliders' blogs and creating this personal highlight reel of my skeleton sliding on YouTube. I was pleased to see at least one commenter say he's signing up for a skeleton class.

I hope many folks sign up for the January 2011 skeleton class being run in conjunction with the Utah Winter Games. Hopefully, I'll make it out there, to assist with the class.

Alas, traffic on this forum may die out, since people don't like doing manual registration, while auto-registration invites tons of spam (unless I do lots of phpbb software modifications I don't want to bother with), bummer.

Anyway, let me know if you have any comments or questions about anything.

George

Hi George,

Are you (or is anyone else) aware of any skeleton schools going on at Lake Placid that are open to non-US residents? I live in Ontario Canada so the drive over to Lake Placid is much cheaper then the flight over to Calgary for me :D.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, I've never been able to get much information from the Lake Placid NY track when I tried years ago (other than my link to their site and skeleton ride page from my FAQ), but if you can get a hold of them, then they should be give you scheduling information and let you know if Canadians are eligible. It's too bad that a trip to Calgary (or Park City) would be a stretch for you. I hear the folks in Calgary -- including Turc Harmesynn from their local sliding club -- are quite helpful.

Sorry I don't have any useful info, but I hope you're able to hit the ice after you finish school.

I'm going to Lake Placid March 19-21, to do the Skeleton Experience thing. It doesn't seen very intense, but I just want to try it and see If it is something I would want to do after graduation and my football is over. I am so stoked! Any advice?

Cool, have fun with that! I don't have any specific advice for you, other than studying any LP track videos, so that you can start memorizing the turns and envisioning runs in your mind.
