Check out the USBSF's fancy new site at It's an improvement over the laughably bad website I lambasted a couple years ago.

Here are a few highlights:

High Line pdf newsletter, 2008-2009 US skeleton team selection criteria, and an events calendar, including a skeleton school in October at Utah Olympic Park, ($300; priority given to athletes in countries without a track).

A blog from bobsled driver Steven Holcomb, which documents the dramatic story of his degenerative eye condition, and how he is undergoing a special procedure to try to improve his vision from 20/500 to 20/20.

Steve Peters, national programs manager, is leaving for a position with another organization.

Adelle Anderson has been promoted to Operations Manager. I think this is fantastic news. Under the old regime, she was among only a couple of employees who conscientiously answered -- rather than completely ignored -- inquiries from athletes and the public.

By the way, I reconfigured the forum to accept uploaded avatars of up to 150 x 150 pixels and 25K in size.
